CARE formally designated the Poverty, Environment and Climate Change Network (PECCN) as its first Centre of Expertise (CoE). The Network supports CARE International Members, Country Offices and their partners to develop innovative, people-centred climate change programming that can be shared and replicated at national and global levels. It also works to influence international conventions, as well as regional and national policy frameworks, to more effectively address the interests and rights of poor and marginalised people. PECCN is especially focused on reducing the negative impacts of climate change by transforming policies, institutions and practices that currently obstruct poor people's ability to adapt, and working with rural community members to improve their livelihoods through better management and governance of natural resources. PECCN focuses on the following themes: adaptation, carbon finance, global and national advocacy, organizational change.
