Ministers of Environment of Latin America & the Caribbean adopt decision creating a Climate Change Regional Cooperation tool
Ministers of the Environment of the region at the past 20th Forum of Ministers, held in Cartagena at the end March, agreed to establish a Regional Cooperation Platform on Climate Change for Latin America and the Caribbean, in view of the recent Paris Agreement and the country’s NDCs. The Platform will be led by the countries of the region and promote South-South cooperation, comprising three key priority areas:
(1) policy dialogue and exchange of experiences on climate change,
(2) climate action: adaptation, mitigation, and loss and damage; and
(3) finance, tech transfer and capacity building on climate change.
At the Forum, the new Minister of Environment of Argentina announced the country’s candidacy to host COP24 in 2018, the year when all the NDCs will need to be submitted again. For more info see here.
