Oportunidad de financiamiento para la adaptación al cambio climático en ciudades
The Global Fund for Ecosystem-Based Adaptation or Global Eba Fund (GEBAF), coordinated by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), supports initiatives that seek to implement and scale up Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA). GEBAF provides rapid and targeted support through seed capital and encourages applications from non-traditional actors, including local NGOs, universities, SMEs and cooperatives with innovative and high-impact EbA initiatives. Funding is in the range of USD 50,000 to USD 250,000.
EbA seeks to increase climate resilience through actions to protect, conserve, restore, use and sustainably manage ecosystems. There is a growing evidence base on the successful use of EbA practices to manage climate risks, contributing to a reduction in loss and damage. In addition, EbA brings numerous social and economic co-benefits, generating green jobs, conserving biodiversity and promoting environmental education and health, among many others. It also has the potential to help cities become more climate resilient, while also protecting nature.
The GEBAF has opened a thematic call for urban EbA, with a deadline for application on April 28, 2023. For more details on how to apply, you can access the following resources, presented in the online event "Financing Opportunity for Adaptation in Cities”, organized by UNEP and IUCN on March 1, 2023:
