The Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) is a non-profit organization with the mission of promoting equitable participation and effective collaboration in managing the natural resources critical to development. This mission is achieved through: (1) applied and action research on, and analysis, monitoring and evaluation of, innovative policies, institutions and approaches to participation and governance; (2)sharing and dissemination of lessons learned, including capacity building; and (3) fostering partnerships, particularly those that build on regional assets and talents and contribute to closer regional cooperation. CANARI is developing a Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Programme. The Programme aims to improve livelihoods and resilience to climate change and related disasters by building the capacity of stakeholders, particularly those most vulnerable, to participate effectively in ecosystem management and develop appropriate responses to climate change.
